UPPER BUCKS CHAMBER BREAKFAST A HUGE SUCCESS!
Each year, the Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce hosts their very popular “Foodie” event, which brings the local business community together to share local food and drink in a casual, fun atmosphere. The proceeds from this event are earmarked for PFEW scholarships for local students. Recently the Chamber hosted a celebratory breakfast for the students they sponsored this summer, and four PFEW graduates took to the podium to talk about their PFEW experience. PFEW - A SMALL WORLD, A HUGE IMPACT
This summer, Joe Battista, head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lion hockey team, had the opportunity to spend the day at PFEW. Little did he know what he was in for when he arrived on campus. PFEW MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN WYOMING COUNTY!
On Wednesday, February 8, Scott Lee, VP of Marketing and Development for the Foundation, had the opportunity to speak about PFEW to the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce. Also speaking was Alexis Mock, senior at Tunkhannock High School and 2016 PFEW graduate. Scott gave an overview of the program, focusing on the need, merit, and structure of the program, and Alexis regaled the audience with her personal story and the powerful and lasting impact PFEW had on her future. A lively question and answer period followed the discussion. Thanks to Gina Suydam, President of the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce, for allowing us to speak. It was a great event! One of our most passionate supporters are the wonderful people at LeTort Trust in Camp Hill PA. Over the years Katie Clark, President at LeTort, has sponsored hundreds of students to attend PFEW. Recently, Katie got us in touch with Flora Posteraro at ABC27 News in Harrisburg, to do a story about LeTort's passion for PFEW and why others should consider supporting local students. Exton Chamber supports PFEW
The Exton Chamber hosted a wonderful luncheon on Tuesday, September 20th. During the event, PFEW graduates and Foundation staff members were invited to attend and talk about their summer PFEW experiences. A very nice article was then published in the Daily Local News. Erie Gives 2017
On Tuesday, August 8th, The Erie Community Foundation will again be hosting its "Erie Gives" day. Anyone who makes a contribution via credit/debit card (Visa, Master Card or Discover) that day will have their gift also generate a partial match for PFEW 2018. As always, your contribution will continue to go to your local students, with the matching funds going to the Scholarship Pool for PFEW 2018. The whole process is very easy, takes only a few moments, and we will appreciate anything you might be able to donate. If you are planning on making a gift for 2018 students anyway, this is a great way to leverage that gift. During Week II of PFEW 2014, we were honored to host a television crew provided by our primary host, the Pennsylvania Manufacturers' Association (PMA), that spent several days filming students, activities, volunteers and the program generally. The resulting thirty minute program aired on Sunday, July 27th at 5:30 p.m. on PCN. This entertaining and informative video can also be viewed online here.

Any graduate of PFEW who is accepted into either Lycoming College or Pennsylvania College of Technology is awarded scholarships to attend their Universities....scholarships that are above and beyond any financial aid you might receive! Lycoming College offers $20,000 ($5,000/year over 4 years) and Penn College offers $8,000 ($2,000/year over 4 years). For more information click here.
